The newest Silverfen web site, Red Dot, explores design and computing ideas. It contains a collection of poems and drawings made with a pentel brush pen. From the design perspective it is seeking to be highly minimalist seeing how much can be achieved with a plain white background, black images and a single red dot. From the computing perspective it makes heavy use of the javascript jQuery library. One noticable aspects of this is that swapping from poem to poem is very fast, as this is all done on the userss machine rather than via the web server. From the design perspective the optimal placing of image and poem depends on the window size, so jQuery is being used to adjust the position of the image as necessary and to hide it if there is not enough space.
The web site for to promote Elizabeth McKellars novel Tourist in Bohemia is now live. This features extracts from the book, information about the story and reviews.
